ASCU Highlights
If you’ve ever wondered what ASCU feels like in the summer, it’s this: warm smiles, inside jokes, and a hundred tiny moments that make a big campus feel like a little family. Here are a few of the memories that still make us grin.
Hoodie Day: wearing our pride (and warmth)
We finally did it! After weeks of doodles, polls, last-minute tweaks, and “wait…should the hoodie be two shades lighter?” debates, our club hoodies went from a shared vision to something you could actually put on. Handing them out felt less like distribution and more like a celebration. The moment those hoodies went on, the room felt a little more ‘us’. It wasn’t just about matching outfits; it was about matching purpose. Every time we spot that hoodie on College Walk or in a classroom, it’s a quiet reminder: we belong to something we’re building together.
Chinese New Year
We brought in the new year with fortune cookies, gold-coin chocolates, and bright red envelopes (each tucked with a gentle, funny, or uplifting note). It was simple and thoughtful, and everyone left with pockets (and hearts) a little fuller. Those tiny red envelopes felt like small acts of care passed hand to hand.
Game Night at Hex & Company: laughter in stereo
At Manhattan’s largest board-game café, we took over tables with Fishbowl, Rummikub, Uno, etc. and laughter filled the café (so much for the ‘quiet actuary’ myth). There were victorious shouts, dramatic groans, and the kind of laughter that travels. People who had only waved in lecture became teammates, rivals, and then friends. Someone learned Rummikub for the first time and immediately became weirdly good at it (we’re still running credibility on that). And for a few hours, deadlines stepped aside while the community took the lead.
Looking back, nothing was flashy; just a hoodie that feels like a hug, a red envelope with the right words, and a game night that turned classmates into friends. Thanks to everyone who planned, carried, explained, and showed up. If you missed one, we missed you too. There’s always a seat at our table. See you at the next one!
